Phedre

Phedre

23rd September 2010 - Tonight we went to the Broadway Media Centre, Nottingham, to see Phedre a cinema 'encore' presentation of the National Theatre's production. An incredible performance featuring Helen Mirren in the title role, with a strong cast including the 79 year old Margaret Tyzack. Ted Hughes translation of Racine's version of the Greek tragedy, exploring lust, anger, jealousy, and the human trait of not accepting responsiblity and blaming others. It stimulated discussion of the gods being the personification of human nature. Linked as they are to love, chastity, vengence etc. This was such a relevant production to A330 studies.
